Control DOF Robotic Arm Gripper Claw For Arduino STEAM DIY

The PS2 Control 6 DOF Robotic Arm Gripper Claw is a modular, programmable manipulator designed for students, educators, and makers seeking hands-on robotics in classrooms and workshops. It combines a rugged steel chassis, six high-torque servos, and a PS2 control interface for quick demonstrations and expandable automation.

• Six DOF articulation: Six joints provide full 6‑axis movement with up to 180° rotation per axis for nuanced picking, placing, and object handling.
• Six high-torque KS-3620 servos: Digital servos with aluminum shells deliver smooth, precise motion across all joints for reliable grip and placement.
• Rigid steel chassis: 1.5 mm steel plate with a high-temperature baked finish maintains alignment under load through repeated use.
• PS2 control interface: Intuitive handheld PS2 controller enables immediate demonstrations and rapid prototyping, with pathways to programmable play.
• Broad hardware compatibility: Works with Arduino, UNO, and STM32 ecosystems; supports open-source routines and custom development for STEAM learning.
• Modular DIY kit: Choose a complete assembled arm (without a control board) or Arduino-based bundles that include a controller and a 5V power adapter; an optional PS2 handle version is available for PS2-driven control.
• Power-ready design: Requires a robust 5V power supply due to servo current draw; kit configurations optimize performance for classroom or personal maker spaces.

This arm delivers hands-on experience with real-world robotics, enabling repeatable, programmable movements for pick-and-place tasks, sorting exercises, and interactive STEAM labs. Students and makers can design, test, and iterate control sequences in Arduino or STM32 environments, bridging classroom theory with tangible results. The combination of a stiff steel chassis, high-torque servos, and PS2-driven control means quicker demonstrations, more accurate placements, and a scalable platform that grows with your skills and projects.

Q&A

1. Q: What is included in the kit? A: You can choose a complete assembled arm (without a control board) or an Arduino-based bundle that includes a controller and a 5V power adapter. An optional PS2 handle version is available for immediate PS2-driven control.
2. Q: How do I control the arm? A: Control options include a hands-on PS2 controller for quick demos and programmable sequences via Arduino/STM32 environments with open-source routines for customization.
3. Q: What power supply is required? A: A robust 5V power supply is recommended due to the current drawn by six high-torque servos; exact requirements depend on kit configuration and usage.
4. Q: How many joints and what is the range of motion? A: The arm has six joints with 6 DOF, and each axis can rotate up to 180 degrees for precise gripping and placement.
5. Q: Is the PS2 controller included? A: The kit offers an optional PS2 handle version for PS2-driven control, while other bundles provide a controller and development board for programmable operation.
6. Q: What platforms is it compatible with? A: It works with Arduino, UNO, and STM32 ecosystems, with support for open-source routines and custom development.
7. Q: Can I customize the motion sequences? A: Yes. Open-source routines and the Arduino/STM32 environments allow you to script and automate complex pick-and-place tasks.
8. Q: Is this suitable for classrooms? A: Absolutely. The sturdy chassis, modular design, and PS2 control setup are aimed at hands-on STEAM learning and repeatable demonstrations.
9. Q: Do I need to assemble it? A: It’s offered as a complete assembled arm (without a control board) or as part of an Arduino-based bundle; some configurations may require minor assembly depending on the kit.
10. Q: What programming language is used? A: Programming is done via the Arduino IDE or STM32 toolchains, using open-source routines for control sequencing.
11. Q: Can I upgrade or expand the system later? A: Yes. The modular design supports adding or swapping controllers, and the open-source foundation makes integration with new sensors or end-effectors feasible.
12. Q: Are there safety considerations? A: Follow standard hobby-robotics safety practices: secure mounting, avoid overloading servos, and ensure the power supply is appropriate for the configuration.
