The xtool is the best deal for bang for the buck. check it out with "google ai". that's what i did. i compared different scan tools. google ai did all the "leg" for me. this xtool. a30m v2.0 (avoid the a30d) is one of the best. pair it with a decent tablet like the 8" or bigger onn. tablet with 6gb ram and google ai rates this high up there or find a good deal on ebay like the onn. 12.1" (2024 model) for $139.99 and google ai thinks this is incredible. have fun.

Updating. Works at home using a USB charger or when connected.
There are many service functions. You can choose only 5 for free, and the rest can be purchased for an additional $20 on the website. I used AI to choose which ones are suitable for my gasoline cars.
